Chandeliers and Pendants

Allow 70 to 85 cm between the bottom of the shade and the tabletop: the table is well lit without dazzling seated guests. Above a kitchen island, go a little higher, between 75 and 90 cm, to keep room for cooking. In the middle of a room or a walkway, leave at least 2.10 m under the light.

Above a table, aim for a diameter of about half its width: 40 to 50 cm for a 90 cm table. For a large rectangular table, two medium pendants or a linear LED bar give better light than a single model. In the middle of a living room, a chandelier of 60 cm or more creates a real focal point; with a low ceiling (under 2.50 m), choose a compact, shallow model.

Two pendants for an island up to about 1.80 m, three beyond that. Space them 60 to 80 cm apart and keep around fifteen centimetres between the outer pendants and the edge of the island. Models available with one or three heads, like those in the ZAVORA collection, make alignment easier.

In a living or dining room, a warm 2700 K light creates a soft atmosphere; in a kitchen, 3000 K gives clearer light for working. A dimmer lets you switch from dinner light to mood light. The bulb base and maximum wattage are listed on each product page.

A pendant light is any light fitting hanging from the ceiling, often with a single light source. A chandelier is a pendant with several arms or lights, and more decorative: crystal, globes, rings. Our crystal chandeliers play the role of a centrepiece, whereas a paper or rattan pendant gives softer, more diffused light.
